Coenzyme Q10 is one of the ubiquinones. It is produced by the body itself and supplemented by food intake. With age, the biosynthesis rate of Q10 decreases, while the need for it, e.g., because of increased oxidative stress, increases. As a lipophilic molecule it can also reach deeper skin layers and acts against oxidative stress, sun damage, and aging. It is needed in all cells of our bodies and exerts important protective functions.
