White powder, insoluble in water. Together with oils and liquid paraffin, it forms gels which can be used as a cream base. Use as a bulking and thickening agent for cosmetic products, for the production of astringent powders and creams, e.g., foot sweat products.

It serves as a bulking and thickening agent of the oil phase in W/O emulsions and stabilizes them.
